KOLKATA — Mohun Bagan Super Giant etched their name into Indian Super League history on Saturday night, defeating Mumbai City FC 2-1 in a pulsating final at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, with Dimitri Petratos scoring a stunning volley in the 113th minute of extra time to send 68,000 fans into rapturous celebration.

Kolkata Erupts

The victory, Mohun Bagan's first ISL title, sparked massive celebrations across Kolkata with fans flooding Maidan, Esplanade, and the streets of North Kolkata through the night. Flares, drums, and chants of "Joy Mohun Bagan" echoed across the city well past midnight.

Head coach Juan Ferrando praised his squad's resilience after going behind to a Lallianzuala Chhangte strike in the 67th minute. "This team has heart. Mumbai scored and the crowd went silent for a moment, but then you could feel the energy change. The fans willed us back," he said.

Sahal's Equaliser

Sahal Abdul Samad, who was named the ISL's Most Valuable Player this season, equalised in the 82nd minute with a curling free-kick that left the Mumbai keeper rooted to the spot, setting up the dramatic finale.
